It not only has compact rhythm and strong expressiveness and emphasis in all kinds of literature works, but reveals the wisdom of ancestor and shows the extensive knowledge and profound scholarship of Chinese language. However, due to great differences between Chinese and English language, it is hard to translate Chinese reduplicated words into English effectively. This paper firstly analyses the Chinese reduplicated words generally, including its definition, forms and change of semantic meaning. Then from comparison and analysis of literal and free translation, it introduces the methodologies of the translation Chinese reduplicated words with some typical examples. Finally the paper introduces the translation strategies on Chinese reduplicated words and some of fixed structures and rhetoric devices, which shows the details of how to translate the Chinese reduplicated words into English in a more precise way. Owing to extensive use of Chinese reduplicated words, this article has a deep and long significance in promoting the exchange between the Chinese and western culture.
