Merriam-Websters Advanced Learners English Dictionary: a short piece of writing that tells a persons thoughts or opinions about a subject Essay的定义 An essay is a relatively short piece of writing that may serve one or more purposes: to inform, persuade, entertain, explain, or merely express an idea, feeling, or impression. Kanar) 段落(paragraph)的定义 Oxford Advanced Learner’s Dictionary (8th edition): a section of a piece of writing, usually consisting of several sentences dealing with a single subject. The first sentence of a paragraph starts on a new line Merriam-Websters Advanced Learners English Dictionary: a part of a piece of writing that usually deals with one subject, that begins on a new line, and that is made up of one or more sentences Paragraph的定义 A paragraph is a short paper of around 150 – 200 words. It usually consists of an opening point called a topic sentence followed by a series of sentences which support that point.
