Unit Eight TEXT I Appetite Laurie Lee Warming-up discussions on the next two topics: 1) What are the dictionary definitions of “appetite”? 2) If you have an appetite for food or for something else, do you as a rule try hard to satisfy it? Main Idea: By interpreting what “appetite” means to him, the author actually is seeking to explain to his readers a relatively more abstract idea (“appetite” in its broad sense), a subject, a look at how to keep away from boredom in life. Purpose in writing: to give a more general difinition of “appetite” and call attention to the importance of preserving it as a source of satisfaction in life.
