ABSTRACT
This document discusses PG from a competitive perspective. The company’s market, its industry, and its strategies are examined utilizing a host of different analytical devices such as a SWOT and TOWS matrix as well as BCG and a QSPM matrix, among others. The conclusion is that while Johnson Johnson is an established home consumer product goods competitor, the greatest competitive threat is Kimberly-Clark because of its continued expansion into numerous product categories as a distributor providing it with significant power as a competitor. Finally, a series of alternative market strategies are developed but the recommended strategy is that the company should acquire Johnson Johnson or a similar large competitor while the opportunity exists. This allows the company to expand its market footprint without the slow growth metrics associated with organic expansion strategies.

INTRODUCTION
PG is North America’s leading consumer product goods with sales in excess of $83 billion and earnings per share of more than $2. The company’s CEO has instituted an experimental distributor-centric strategy that is intended to result in a pivotal realignment of all the company’s manufacturing and distribution locations, from the current operational strategy around a new approach to servicing the customer. At issue is that while the company has met all of the market’s financial expectations, investors and stakeholders alike are concerned that the value of the new strategy is supported by the results. In contrast, the CEO believes the organization’s performance will justify the strategy given time to properly assess the outcome of the test locations. The issue is how to satisfy the needs of Wall Street while strategically reorienting the company around a new corporate strategy and maintain revenues in a tightening economy.
