Wood Fiber-Thermoplastoc Composites As described elsewhere in this chapter, the use of lignocellulosic materials with thermosetting polymeric materials, like phenol-or urea-formaldehyde, in the production of composites has a long history. The use of lignocellulosic with thermoplastics, however, is a more recent innovation. Broadly defined, a thermoplastic softens when heated and hardens when cooled. Thermoplastics selected for use with lignocellulosic component, normally 200℃ to 220℃.
