Teaching Procedures Lead In Cultural Background or Related Information We seem to have fallen in love with sports. Then, why do we love sports? Is it because of the joy it brings? Or is it just because we can watch it and relax from everyday troubles? Actually, it is really a hard question for us to answer. I think that we like sports because of different reasons. Firstly, sports can bring us much fun. We need sports to fill some sort of genetic void in our modern lives, left there by the decline of strong natural connections. Especially in the democratic world, we are not so viscerally identified any longer by who we are ethnically, nationally or religiously—the marks that used to stamp us. So sports become a surrogate loyalty. Especially in our huge metropolises of millions of people spread over hundreds of square miles, one last surviving element of civic pride can be the sports team.
