Based on summarizing domino theory and energy release theory, the paper discusses the general formation mecha－ nisms of risk; on this basis, it analyzes the relationship between information asymmetry and construction project risk. As a result, the paper shows that the uncertainty factors which project be confronted with is the foundation and prereq－ uisite of construction project risk, and information asymmetry is the root causes of it. This paper reveals the nature and formation mechanism of construction project risk.
