information from the passage.
2.Learn to express somebody’s resolutions.
3. Learn to work out plans .
Language: 1.Grasp the new words: over, fax, reader, fit, communicate,
lady, foreign, teach, build, exchange.
2.Grasp the structures: Future with going to
I’m going to work harder next year.
Lucy is going to learn to play an instrument.
We’re going to build a bigger subway.
Difficult points: Work out some plans.
Teaching course
Step1 Warming-up and revision
Ask When New Year’s Day is. Say New Year is coming.What are you going to do next year?
Ask Ss to talk about their New Year’s resolutions.(Chainwork)Ask one by one in a row.
Say,for me ,first I’m going to exercise more to keep fit. Next, I’m going to eat more vegetables.Then I’m going to worker harder and communicate better with my students.Finally I’m going to read more books.
Step2 Reading (3a)
Ask Ss “Are you going to read more books ? Do you like reading ?”.
Let’s come to Reading Club!
Show Ss a magazine called Readers.Say,we are going to read an article from it. It made a survey about its readers’ New Year’s resolutions.
1. Fast Reading. Read the article quickly and answer two questions.
Say there are some new words in the article.You can guess them.
1). Did they get over 1000 letters, faxes and e-mail from their readers about their New Year’s resolutions?
2). What job does one old lady want to find?
2. Careful Reading . Read it carefully.What are the readers going to do next year?
Ask Ss to fill in the chart.
