A bstract: International crude oilmarket has w ent through 150 years! development, and underw ent three
stages: company pricing ( 1 00 1 73), OPEC pricing ( 1 73 1 86) and futures pricing ( 1 86
current). Current international crude oil pricingm echanism, all along w ith the emergence of crude oil fu
tures in 1 86, has gradually entered the era of futures pricing. Th is paper selectsWTI spot price from
January 2, 1 86 to August 4, 200 , and uses dynam icV aR to calculate the price risk of crude oil. The
results show that crude oil price risk is very h igh and volatile. Such resu lts reveal that the futuresm arket,
as a h igh- level transactions ofmarket economy, can not overcome the shortcom ings of them arket econo
my itself - cyclical fluctuations.
