We will learn to describe: Peoples faces-hair color style, facial hair, something on their skin Physique-we will learn the vocabulary used to describe people’s bodies When you see words in this color it means that they are not really good to say to the person’s face, but people still use them to describe when the person is not present…so just be careful with these words Hair Color Hair can be any color…we will talk about some of the more common colors. brown hair Hair that is light to dark brown is called brown hair You could say: “She has brown hair.” or “She is (a) brunette.” blonde hair Anybody with hair that is light in color (a white-yellow to yellow color) has blonde hair You could say: “She has blonde hair.” or “She is (a) blonde.” red hair Yes, it is actually an orange color, but in English we call this ‘red’ hair You could say: “She has red hair.” or “She is a redhead.” Black hair Hair that is black is called black hair You could say: “She has black hair.” grey hair People with white or grey have what we say ‘grey hair’-usually older people You could say: “He has grey hair.” salt and pepper hair =hair that is black with grey in it More About Hair… hair texture: the way hair feels and looks hair length: how long or short the hair is hair texture=wavy hair length=short hair texture= straight hair length= medium length, shoulder length hair texture=curly hair length=long Hairstyles the way people cut and/or style their hair fringe or bangs =the front part of your hair that is cut shorter then the rest of your hair Mohawk faux hawk buzz cut or brush cut The ‘bob’ Bowl cut “going bald” or “balding” bald afro or fro dreadlocks shaggy or messy or tousled Some Extras… I won’t ask you for this information on an exam…it is just extra vocabulary for you to use!
