It’s a financial firm which comes into being to meet the needs of the market economy and socialized mass production. After hundred years of evolvement, it’s now becoming the main hub for the capital flow among the social economy environment. Profit is the foundation for all the activities of commercial banks, and it’s the main internal driven force of them. With the further development of the national financial reform process, more and more commercial banks are feeling the pains caused by their outdated performance management system. EVA is a new performance management system for commercial banks. EVA is the after-tax cash flow generated by a business minus the cost of the capital used to generate that cash flow. EVA focuses on the real profit versus paper profit from traditional financial statements. EVA theory has been widely accepted in the commercial banks of western countries. In recent years, the China Construction Bank and Industry Bank are introducing the EVA to improve their performance management system. Through our analysis of the current performance management system of China Construction Bank Chongqing branch, we incorporate the EVA theory to improve its performance management process, methodology and system.
