The Awakening of the Black Feminist from the Novel of Toni MorrisonAbstract: In October1993, the Nobel Prize for Literature was granted to a black American woman writer,Toni Morrison. She is the first black woman writer who is awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature; Her works are about African-American women who suffered a lot in the white American society. Her novels usually focus on such problems as black women’s self-awareness. She helps to develop the novel writing in the 20th century. Since the late 1770’s, the literary critical filed has paid a great deal of attention to Toni Morrison and her works. Various books and essays with all kinds of critical theories and ways are constantly emerging. The thesis mainly concerns the black women in Morrison’s works, and analyzes self-consciousness of the black woman furthely from Sethe’s Endurance, Pacola’s pray to Sula’s Rebellion.
