Institute of Remote Sensing and Digital Earth, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing 100101, China Abstract: A technical framework of spatial information retrieval was put forward for petroleum exploration and production, a method of spatial theme mining proposed and a high-performance hybrid index structure support- ing query composed by text and 3 dimensions space were also designed. The prototype named PetroScope based on original research was implemented. It was proved that the PetroScope could meet requirements of spatial in- formation retrieval in petroleum exploration and production with its accuracy and performance verification.
