History The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation, was established in Hong Kong and Shanghai in 1865. The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation expanded rapidly with an emphasis upon building up representation in China and the rest of the Asia-Paci?c region and establishing a presence in the major ?nancial and trading centres in Europe and America. On 22 February 2001, the French Finance Ministry announced the sale of Banque Hervet to CCF for a consideration of FF3,471 million.
