A Study on American Street Music Abstract: Music is a combination of life, emotion, sprite, and culture. Street music perches in these streets, lively and vividly. Even if we are familiar with it, people pay little attention to the street music. Some music authorities praise highly on boutique cultural such as Beethoven’s, and treat the street music as the bottom of their pile. The musicologists focus too far away their concentration on academic to care the trivial matter on street. The musicians often deemed the music hall and the big stage to be the holy place of their art career, in the meantime regard the street music as the little deals between the so called peddlers. What about the masses? Are they always put an equal sign between buskers and the blind beggars in rags? This thesis aims to explore a field which is rarely known. It is just the place to be visited——the world of American street music.
