Teaching Procedure Section A How to Make a Good Impression Step I. Lead-in How long does it take us to judge the people we meet? How can you have a positive effect on other people? Pre-reading activities: (tape script) People judge other people within the first seven seconds of meeting them. You can have a positive effect on other people through using your eyes, face, and body in unspoken communication. What you say needs to match what you do. When you enter a room full of people, you can look at them and smile. You have the power to have a good effect on others because you are the only one who can be you. The key is to be your best by being relaxed and thinking of others instead of yourself. Step II. Structure Part I (Para.1--2): We show our true felling during the first seven seconds when we meet people. Part II (Para3--14): How to make a good impression. Para.3—5: You are the message. Para.6—9: Be yourself. Para.10—11: Use your eyes. Para.12—14: Lighten up. Part III (Para.15): We have the power to make a good impressionjust be yourself. Step III.
