To enable such an environment, the Treasury Board Secretariat (TBS), with federal departments and other interested parties, is developing a results-oriented approach to risk management to help employees better understand, manage and communicate risk and the related choices – a modern, integrated approach. As the basis for this work, background research on best practices in risk management was required in the Canadian private sector and provincial public sectors and in the private and public sectors internationally. Methodology Thirteen (13) Canadian organizations with ongoing management of risk initiatives were interviewed and Canadian literature on management of risk was reviewed.
