Why Adaptation? - How does it work?
During the adaptation (adaptation shift operations), adaptation
data are calculated in the transmission control unit.
These adaptation data are used for correcting the basic data
entries in the control unit.
Experience has shown that the current adaptation sequence in
StarDiagnosis is in some cases not successful and a
replacement of the electrohydraulic controller unit in
accordance with diagnostic tree 722.9 is required.
The following types of adaptation run during the shift
operations in the control unit of the 722.9 (provided the boundary
conditions are met):
Fill time adaptation (FZA): Correction of the time value for filling the
engaging element (available in DAS, values in cycles (= 10 ms))
Contact pressure adaptation (ADA): Correction of the pressure value for
applying the engaging element (available in DAS, values in mbar)

Only the flawed shift operation needs to be adapted
Adaptation data may only be reset if mechanical changes have been
made to the transmission. For performing the adaptation due to a
complaint, the adaptation values should not be deleted in advance, only
subsequently adapted.
The adaptation data (ADA and FZA) are altered during driving operation as
soon as the conditions exist for the adaptation shift operations
The correction values for 3 temperatures each are stored for each shift
operation
The transfer to the fixed memory (E²PROM) takes place cyclically, at the
latest every 10 minutes
Following an adaptation trip, the engine therefore has to continue running
for another 10 minutes before the ignition is switched off, or the
adaptation seq
