Methods: For tyf ive patients w ith umbar disc herniation w ere divided into three groups r andom y: Huox ue Xiaoban pow der group ( Herb group) , dic of enac sodium g roup ( Western medicine group) , and vacuity cont ro group ( Contr o group) . A the patients under w ent c as sic discectomies . T he f irst day after operation Huoxue Xiaoban pow der w as given to Herb group three times a day and a packet one time w hich had 15 g her bs ti the second w eek. 75 mg dic of enac sodium ( Vota in) w as g iven to Wester n medicine g roup once a day after supper . Fo ow ing bio chemica indexes w ere observ ed preop erative y in the first and the second w eek postoperativ e y: the eve of hemorheo ogy, PG E2 and ur inary hy droxy pro ine ( U HOP) . Enhanced CT scan w as ex amined in the eighth w eek . T he c inica eff ect of operation w as judged according to the standard of LU Yupu.
