Unit 4 Jobs people do 一、Teaching Objectives: Knowledge objectives: identify details that support a main idea; open an interaction by eliciting a response; read written language in meaningful chunks; gather and share information and ideas by using strategies such as brainstorming. Skill objectives: talk about people’s jobs: where people work and what they do Emotional objectives: co-operate with others 二、Teaching Key Points: use nouns to identify people; use the simple present tense to talk about habitual actions 三、Teaching Difficult Points: The same block of flats as; an architect; work for; type letters; move sth. to sp 四、Teaching Procedures: 1. Pre-task preparation: Review jobs known by the students. Ask: What jobs do people do? Compile a list of jobs on the board as the students answer. 2. While-task procedure: ① Give the students time to read the text silently. ② Play the cassette. The students follow in their books. ③ Ask individual students to read a paragraph each. ④ Ask questions about the people in the text: e.g. What is Mrs Wang’s job? Where does she work? What does she do? ⑤ The students complete the table. Check orally. ⑥ Workbook 7A page 22 In pairs, students prepare the sentences without writing. Ask individual students to read a sentence each. The students write the sentences.
