What are the most frequent risk factors encountered in patients? (2). Techniques of Anesthesia Surface anesthesia - spray, solution or cream to the skin or a mucous membrane. Infiltration anesthesia –beneath the skin injection of local anesthetic into the tissue. Field block - injection of a local anesthetic in an area bordering on the field to be anesthetized. Peripheral nerve block - in the vicinity of a peripheral nerve to anesthetize that nerves area of innervation (3) Intravenous Conscious Sedation (IV sedation) (4) Local Anesthesia Agent (5) Conduction anesthesia (6) Maxilla Nerve Conduction Maxillary division nerve block Posterior superior alveolar nerve block Middle superior alveolar nerve block Anterior superior alveolar nerve block Infra-orbital nerve block Greater palatine nerve block Nasopalatine nerve block (7) Maxillary tuberosity Posterior superior alveolar (PSA) nerve block, otherwise known as the tuberosity block or the zygomatic block, Used to achieve anesthesia of the maxillary molar teeth up to the 1st molar with the exception of its mesiobuccal root in some cases (8) Posterior palatine foramen Area of insertion for the greater palatine nerve block is one centimeter medial to the junction of the maxillary 2nd and 3rd molars. (9) Infraorbital foramen Achieving anesthesia of the maxillary central and lateral incisors and canine as well as the surrounding soft tissue on the buccal aspect.
