Instead, it is intended to be visionary, provocative, incomplete and as evolutionary as possible. We are not reporting here − as it may be the case in a traditional article for a j ournal or a book − the results of original and well defined collaborative research; rather : we collected previously written texts and integrated them with reflections specifically oriented to the goals and needs of the School. Being those goals apparently ambitious, we have kept the style. At the same time we have tried to be as modest as possible in our pedagogical attitude used in describing modern computational phenomena that may be unknown to the human scientists expected to attend the School. We have adopted the viewpoint that the mandate of the School is neither to show a state of the art, nor to describe how advanced we (lecturers) are in our research. Instead, we assumed the mission to consist of showing, discussing, negotiating the necessity of synergies between Philosophy and Computing − what to do − in order to
