Teaching aims:
Knowledge objectives:
Students will be able to understand and use the following new words: letter, around, start, write, tell, me, soon, best, wish, Saturday.
Students will be able to write a letter about their daily routines using the words they learned..
Ability objectives
Students will be able to apply the reading skills, such as, skimming, scanning and reading for details to improve reading ability and can have a good understanding of the whole text.
The students will be able to reflect the text by retelling it.
Moral objectives:
Students will be interested in the topic and be willing to share their daily routines.
Students will be fully involved in group work and cooperate with others.
Teaching difficult points:
Students may make a few mistakes in talking about the time and daily routines.
Maybe it’s a little difficult for some less developed students to retell one’s daily routines and write a letter about it correctly.
Teaching procedures:
Step 1 Revision
Play a game.
Put two boxes on the teacher’s desk, one has the cards with different activity phrases, and the other has cards with different time phrases. Ask Ss to draw one piece of paper from each box. Then make a sentence with the phrases. For example, get up at 10:00pm.
S1: I get up at 10:00pm.
Ask the other students what he/she does.
Ss: He/She gets up at 10:00pm.
If the time is not true, the first student will correct it and say like this: S1: No, I get up at 6:00am.
Then, ask another student to draw the cards and go on the game.
Step 2 Tom’s day
1. Show a photo of Tom to Ss.
T: Did you remember your friend, Tom? Let’s say Tom’s day.
Tom’s morning
Show some pictures about different activity phrases and time. Let Ss say Tom’s morning according to these pictures with time.
T: Tom is telling Jiang Min about his morning. You will fill in the blank lines, using the information that we talked about just now.
