1 Introduction of Tourism English Hello,every one! From now on,we’ll learn the tourism English. We have arranged the following parts in each unit. Part one is the conversations and you will learn how to communicate with different people ,how to chat with them and how to deal with different occasions. Following is text A. We’ll learn some important information on tourism. Mind you, please remember the language points and try to apply them to your English study and daily life. Next part is vocabulary , phrase and expressions. You’d better preview this part before the class and learn the new words by heart so that you can master the conversations and text easily. Following is the basic patterns and drills. In this part, we’ll concentrate on listening and translating and reading. So please join us actively. Then we’ll come to the next part: practice. Three kinds of exercises are designed in this part and you’ll know what they are when we learn it. Please be sure to do it by yourself and then we’ll check the answer in the class. The last part of each unit is reading material. You will enlarge tourism knowledge while enjoying listening to the content of the text B. OK, so much for the brief introduction of the Tourism English. Now let’s begin with Unit One- At the Airport. Dialogue 1: Information on Airport Passenger: Can I see a domestic timetable? Clerk: Sure, Here you are. P: You have three flights to Las Vegas? C: Yes, we do. P: Do you have any direct flights to Tokyo? C: Sorry, we don’t. I don’t think you can find any airlines which offers a non-stop flight to Tokyo. P: Can you tell me if there is a flight to New York? C: Yes. Flight 217 departs at 15:30 and arrives in New York at 8:20 the next day by way of Chicago. P: How long is the lay-over in Chicago? C: Two hours. P: What’s the weather like in New York now?
