ENGLISH FOR INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS COMMUNICATION I.OBJECTIVE With the rapid development of Chinas foreign trade, we have more and more contacts with the outside world. To enlarge our foreign trade, retain the existing customers and gain new customers, develop new products and new markets, we should have a good master of knowledge of international business and business English. So the main objective of this class is to introduce some essentials of business-letter writing and discuss the methods how to establish business relations, how to make enquiries and replies, how to send the proforma invoices, how to send offers, counter-offers, orders and acceptances. In this class, we also discuss how to write sales promotions, how to negotiate the terms of payments, packing, insurance and shipment. It also includes the subjects on how to make complaints and adjustments and how to settle trade disputes. We also introduce some methods to write documents for joint ventures and so on. So this course is very rich, interesting and very important in the contents. And it is also very difficult. When we discuss the different subjects, we should always keep the proverb in our mind: Practice makes perfect. So we should ask the students to write letters and make as many more practices as possible. II.
