This course is designed to provide a comprehensive presentation to the introduction of literature, helping the students get to know the elements of literature, and preparing for the literature study in the future. Course Objectives: Students who have taken this course should be able to: Identify, analyze and critique information pertinent to the three forms of literature, including fiction, poetry and drama. Develop the ability to analyze the elements of literature. Grasp some critical skills, such as analyzing plot, character, theme, point of view, tone, etc. Make full use of the skills to appreciate literature works. Course Requirements: Class attendance is required and consideration will be given in grading. (20%) Presentation of half or one chapter of the course book (10%). (ppt, explanation, analysis, time) Assignments in written form (such as the analysis of some literature works) spread throughout the semester (10%). A final exam paper of questions will be presented based on lectures and required reading materials.
