The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn is his masterwork. The book narrates the journey of a white teenager Huck and a black slave Jim down the Mississippi River. In spite of the simple plot, it evokes sound resonance among its readers. This essay attempts to focus on the relationship between the main two characters-Huck and Jim, especially in the 19th South America when the racial discrimination is deep rooted. The thesis tries to study the story from three aspects: chapter one is about Racism, chapter two presents the progress of their friendship and chapter three studies love and equality between them. It all aims to illustrate how they improve their friendship under the old morality and racism in America.
