Book One Unit 8 Educational Problems Objectives Students are supposed to: 1.understand the main idea (teenagers’ idleness and ignorance will seriously affect themselves and society in general) and structure of the text (two parts—the author’s concern and his proposed remedy); 2.learn the way to write a cause-and-effect analysis; 3.grasp the key language points and grammatical structures in the text; 4.conduct a series of reading, listening, speaking and writing activities centered on the theme of the unit. (Who is the person who has the same parents as t have but is neither my brother nor my sister) ---Why did the teacher ask his class this riddle? (To make his class think and see how clearly they think) Group discussion Students are divided into three large groups. Each is assigned one of the following topics for discussion: ---How has the United States developed into the sole superpower in the world? ---How did Japan manage to rebuild itself after the devastation of WWⅡ? ---How will china grow into a prosperous and well-respected country? 3) Cultural Background introduction 1.
