Concentrations of PAHs are quantitatively measured and distributing characteristics of these compounds in the area are discussed. The range of PAHs concentra tions in the sediments is 3270 —355888 ngg ,the mean concentration is 115208 ngg. It is main for PAHs in surface sediment to be contami nated . The PAH content in the sea area is highest near Dalian harbor , and takes second place in samples collected from the monitoring station near the northeast of Dlian Coal Wharf ,and decreases gradually from northwest and northeast to south ,showing the characteristics of two point source pollutiong.
