;Text　　The operational amplifier is one of the most widely used analog integrated circuits. Actually, it is the multilevel direct coupling amplifier with high gain, high input impedance and low output impedance. With the development of integrated circuit technology, the performance has been more perfect. Today, the development direction of integrated operational amplifier is lower drift, noise and power dissipation; higher speed, gain and input voltage; moreover much more output power etc.;　　There are many styles of operational amplifiers. The circuits are not so same, but generally the circuits consist of three stages (as shown in Fig.6-1): input, middle and output stage. Normally, the input circuit is the differential amplifier used to reduce the zero drift. The primary purpose of the middle stage is to obtain high voltage gain. The output stage is made up of the voltage follower to decrease the output impedance and improve the output power and the load capability.;;　　The operational amplifier is the most important basic building block of all linear circuits. It has a wide range of applications in such fields as analogue signal operations, amplification, filtering, waveforms producing, linear and non-linear signals handling, etc.　　The term“operational amplifier”was originally applied to high gain amplifiers operating down to zero frequency which were used in analogue computers to perform certain mathematical operations. These high gain amplifiers are now used for a wide variety of applications, but the name“operational amplifiers”or“op-amp”is normally used even though no mathematical operation are involved. ;The early operational amplifiers employed discrete components, but it is now much more convenient to employ an integrated circuit. The circuit designers are not generally interested in the internal components of an integrated circuit, but only in the performance of the unit as a whole.
