Human Nature in the Deer Hunter ——By Amber The deer hunter is an epic about war , friendship and love . Furthermore , the deer hunter is the first important film to reflects the Vietnam War .When it was released in 1978 , the Vietnam War seems to be the wounds which Americans did not want to touch , because the cruel fact should let some people unbearable . Lasting for 14 years , the Vietnam War was the longest war in the history of America . This war did not only let Vietnam into an abyss of misery , but also let the United States pay a heavy price , sixty thousand American soldiers died in Vietnam and many resources waste , what is more important , the war to the people of the people of the United States caused great spiritual trauma , became dull pain in each Americans’ heart . As far as we all can see , in this movie , north Vietnamese soldiers were like the bloodthirsty monsters , torture the capture of American prisoners of war cruelly , forcing them to conduct “ Russian roulette ” game . We audiences are all think that the Russian roulette game is brutal but this game is a core of this movie and it conveys out the fear and human distortion caused by the war . In this film , the hunter was killed and the killers lost human nature . I just wonder ,could you imagine or find the human nature in the movie and what kinds of human nature they are ? At the beginning of this movie , they went out of the factory and Michael said the weather , “Those are sundogs . That means a blessing on the hunters sent by the great wolf who is chosen . ” They , the several intimate friends , played , laughed and hugged with each other . At that time , everything in their mind was very great and everything looked so good . Before the three people , Michael , Nick and Steven , went to the battlefield , they and all of their friends held the wedding party for Steven and Angela . The wedding ceremony had last for nearly 30 minutes in this film . The ceremony was so lively and happy .
