A selected student is given an energy bar and is asked to run in place for 2 minutes. (Heat from his/her body will be given off).(5 min).Question (problem) is asked, “What happens to the energy that is being used, if the amount of energy in the universe remains constant?”Is there a way to capture and use the heat energy that is “lost” to the atmosphere?Teacher Comments: I n country homes of the south where there was no central heat, children would dress for school in the morning close to the oven if biscuits had been baked. So the heat escaping from the oven was not a total loss!
