09英语一班 陈炎珍 I Would Rather Live in a Small Town than in a Big City With the swift development of our nation’s economy, a dramatically increasing number of people swarm into big cities. They maintain that big cities can provide them with more opportunities and life there far more convenient. However,, I am quiet the opposite. For my part, I would rather live in a small than in a big city. First and foremost, it is universally acknowledged that the environment in small towns is pretty comfortable. Every morning, when you wake up and pull out windows, a puff of brisk breeze mingling with a flow of flower scent will refresh you. Beside, after working, you can savour the secret of nature by roaming about the serpentine bush path. Then, the harmonious and intimate relationship between neighborhood is another essential features of small towns. Here, people are accustomed to visiting each other and sharing their life experiences. When one is in trouble, others will give him a hand at once. Life is never dull at the weekends, for there are so many parties waiting for people. Last but not least, living in small towns, people are under the lightest psychological pressure. There are less aggressive competition in life or work.. People are imbued with ease. Apparently, such leisure state of mind not only contributes to people’s physical health, but also does good to their mental health. Contrasted to this paradise—like lifestyle in small towns, the life in big cities is distinctively different. To begin with, clear fresh air can hardly find its way in big cities, for there is so much contamination. The traffic Jam is the most prominent features of big cities. The enormous vehicles emit a deal of toxic gases, deteriorating the environment. The untidy and crowded streets are beyond many people’s tolerance. When it comes to the relationship between neighborhoods, unsurprisingly, citizens are distant and indifferent to each other, which may lie in that confine themselves in their
