Chinese grassland has also degraded in recent several dec ades. Chinese natural grassland ismainly located in the region where condition is bad, lower productivity is its main feature because of aridity, irrational graze andmowing, unplanned reclam ation and mi propermanagement. In this paper, digitalmethod is adopted in allprocedure. Compared with direct interpretation of the satellite photo in the 1980s, precision is mi proved, and land use status data of the researching region can be gotten rapidly at the same tmi e. The common remote sensing mi age processing software, such as ERDAS, ERMAPPER, NV, PCI et al., can be used to processTM data.
