We are proud that we are volunteers There is a life, whose hardship you will not realize unless you’ve undergone it. Yet you can hardly feel the happiness either unless you have experienced it. Its sheer joy cannot be appreciated unless you have gone through it, harsh but worthwhile. This is the glorious life of ours. We are proud volunteers. A light drizzle nourishes our hope quietly. A warm breeze transmits our love softly. In this sunny season, let’s, hand in hand, shoulder to shoulder, walk together on the journey of love. Benyu Xu, an ordinary graduate, chose to teach in a mountain village school, leaving behind all the benefits of urban life. Despite the inconvenience resulting from shaky classrooms and poverty and loneliness, he shoulders the responsibility which he might well shunned. His efforts to spread knowledge are starlight which brightens village night sky. Whether we are exposed to the hot sun or to a whipping rain, no matter there is an icy wind or unbearable heat, we will not be thwarted. Our flags billow wherever volunteers are needed. We’ll work with toiling efforts wherever there is hardship. We left our footprints wherever there is difficulty. Repay society with your love, Warm the heart with sincerity. Thus, a voice echoes in Beijing, “One world, one dream”; a voice echoes in Shanghai, “Better city, better life”; and a voice echoes in Guangzhou, “Hello, Future”. We, who used to be strangers, gathered together in Guangzhou Asian Games as well as in Beijing Olympic Games. We did that for the same goal: We are volunteers. And today, along the bank of the Baihe River and on the sports field of the 7th National Farmers’ Sports Meeting, once again we gather, with the same enthusiasm and smile. Welcome, athletes from all over China!
