Functions: Asking about families Describing people Talking about jobs Turning in Picture talking and Role play: Talking about the family tree (10 minutes) Ask the students to show their family photos and tell us who is who. Try to describe some of their family members What do they do? Introducing the jobs. Who do they work for? What do they look like? Fill in the blanks in Page 19 (5 minutes) What does Alice call John? (Uncle) What does Dick call Mary? (Aunt) How many children do George and Ali have? (two) Who are they? (Jane and Jack) How many grandsons do they have? (two) Who are they? (Dick and Bob) How many granddaughters do they have? (two) Who are they? (Linda and Alice) Listen to the text (twice) ( 5 minutes ) Some students are asking and telling each other about their families at the English Corner. Linda: Would you tell me about your family? Have you got any brothers or sisters? Li Hui: No, I haven't. I'm an only child. How many people are there in your family? Linda: Four. They are my father, mother, brother and I. Li Hui: What do your parents look like? Linda: My father is tall, with dark hair. My mother is slim, with fair hair. Li Hui: What does your father do? Linda: He is a manager, and my mother is a teacher. Li Hui: What do they work for? Linda: My father works for the IBM Company in China, and my mother works for Shanghai University.
