We believe developmentally responsive elementary level schools provide sufficient time to accomplish the school’s educational objectives. As documented in Project STAR outof Tennessee, providing small classes consistently over a child’s first four years of school, from K-3, increases benefits over time. Lower class sizes not only result in improved achievement and test scores, but, is also reflected in improved tudent behavior. According to Lakeville parents’ focus groups, smaller class size is one change they would like to see in the elementary program.
