12 13 14 Additives The deposit from an acid copper plating solution is matte pink in color, as shown. The DECA-LUME EXTRA process utilizes two additives for obtaining a bright deposit. These are called DECA-LUME EXTRA Make-up and DECA-LUME EXTRA brightener. The make-up additive is added only when making a new solution, while the brightener is added to a new solution and is consumed by ampere hours and drag-out losses. Drag-out losses may eventually reduce the make-up concentration slightly. This can be evaluated and adjusted by running a hull cell test. According to the Atotech bulletin (Revision 4/93): A 2:1 ratio of Make-Up to Brightener is required for leveling and brightness properties. After makeup at this ratio, only brightener is added for maintenance unless imbalance occur. If brightness and leveling decrease, an add of up to 0.8 ml/L (one pint to the 150 gallon tank).
