I can’t see clearly. Compared to my friends, I work harder. The first person plural We need some more apples. Let’s go home, shall we? We should keep calm even we are in danger. The second person Are you ready, Tom? (single) You two must arrive on time. (plural) You never know what may happen. (general) ;The third person singular positive E.g.: Where is John? He is in the garden. In some proverbs, “he” refers to a general person. (1) He who laughs last laughs best. 谁笑到最后,谁笑得最好。 (2) He is most powerful who governs himself. 能克制自己的人是最有力量的人。 (3) He is rich enough who has true friends. 有朋友的人是富翁。;The third person singular neutral. “It” refers to a object or thing that have been mentioned. I like swimming. It keeps me healthy. I bought a book yesterday. It is very interesting. “It” can refer to a baby: It’s a lovely baby. Is it a boy? “It” can refer to a person on the phone: Who is it?;The third person plural Where are the glasses? They are on the shelf. (2) They say that honest is the best policy. 人们说诚实是上策。(general people) ; ;Functions of personal pronouns in the sentence ;It can be the object—the objective case of the personal pronoun is usually the object of a sentence. I saw him in the street. If you see Mary, give her my regards. Are you for it or against it? Please give it to them. It can be the predicative —when the personal pronoun is the predicative of a sentence, it usually uses the form of the objective case. e.g. If I were her, I would take the advice.;It can be the individual component. When the personal pronoun is used as an individual component, it is usually in the form of the objective case. Me, too. Will anyone go with me? Not me. It can be the appositive(同位语). We teachers should be patient
