Abstract: Hard clams Mercenaria mercenaria were intr duced fr m America t China in 2000. In this paper, the
c ntents f 18 c mm n acids, pr tein, fat as well as vitamines and mineral i ns in edible part f hard calm were
analyzed. The results sh wed that the c ntents f 18 c mm n acids and the essential amin acid were 52. 42%
and 40. 88% respectively and the average sc re f essential amin acid was 96. 4 11. 3 acc rding t the FAO/
WHO suggested level ( 1973) , and in which the smelled amin acid takes ab ut 48. 30% . The c ntent f pr tein
in edible part f hard clam was higher( 60. 69% ) and the c ntent f fat was much l wer( 5. 60% ) than that f
s me bivalves. The results als indicated that the edible part f hard clam was als rich in amin acids, vitamins
( A, B , B , B , B ) , and mineral i ns such as Ca, Zn, Fe, Mn, etc. Hard clam was suggested t be with higher

nutriti nal value which was g d f r human health.
