Both ASME and ASCE are engineering publishers. For many science and technology schools, ASME and ASCE resource are both necessary. For example we have a subscriber school specialized in railway building, it needs ASCE just because railway is part of civil engineering, and it also needs ASME because the devices and materials for railway building is part of mechanical engineering. So it’s necessary to have a brief view of the difference and relevance btw these two resources. * First lets see some similar topics in ASME and ASCE publications. Here we have mechanics, sustainable development, energy engineering, pipeline, application of computing science, the engineering under extreme condition like coastal and cold areas, transportation, and in next page… * …aerospace industry, construction and building techniques, environmental engineering, quality and safety control, risk management, and career development. Due to limited time, I will only talk about a few topics. Although these are similar topics, the underlying difference is quite obvious. For example, the resources of sustainable development focus on different application. In ASME you will find how solar energy, wind energy, cell fuel, nuclear plant and electric vehicles contribute to a sustainable life and industry, while in ASCE you will see the sustainable use of water, gas and other basic utilities in buildings and communities. And transportation is another deeply overlapped field. In ASCE you can find state-of-art techniques in building highway, bridge, port and tunnel, as well as urban transport plan, while in ASME you can find the design of transportation system, signal system and vehicles for special purpose. * And here are the featured topics that the other publisher doesn’t cover.
