It means so much to the studying of translation, for in practices, the knowledge on translation can be tasted and be understood and remembered very well, which proved to be true in our practice this time. Sizable knowledge is absorbed by us through the discovery and analyzing to both excellent and not well translation. We take our internship on the translation of public signs at xi’an Daming Palace, a site of the imperial palace in Dang Dynasty, where a lot of English public signs are found, both excellent one and inappropriate one. While there are some mistaken or inappropriateness found in the English version of the public signs in Daming Palace, most of them keeps sorely excellent translation which must have been thought over and deliberated so earnestly and patiently that the English versions are extraordinary excellent. Body On account of the fact that both excellent and inappropriate English version of the public signs existent in Daming Palace, my analysis on the translation of public signs will be carried on from both the pointing out and correcting to the mistakes and the appreciation to the excellent ones. The first comes to the pointing out and correcting to the mistakes. The mistakes are divided into three aspects, the mistakes in the simple expression, the mistakes in the sentence structure and the inappropriateness in the formation of a sentence. My analysis starts with the simplest one. The simple mistakes can be wrong in spelling and in the correctly conveying the original meaning.
