Special Use Special Use Direct and Indirect speech Unit 7 Modern Office 在引述他人的话时,一字不改地直接引用原话,叫直接引语(direct speech)。直接引语须用引号(“”),句首的第一个字母须大写。例如: He said, “I have finished my work.” She insisted, “I know nothing about it.” The teacher said, “You are late again.” He said, “I have lost my money.” 如说话人用自己的话加以转述,这就是间接引语(indirect speech / reported speech)。间接引语不用引号,通常以宾语从句的形式出现。例如: He said he had finished his work. She insisted she knew nothing about it. The teacher said I was late again. He said he had lost his money. 直接引语和间接引语通常需要由诸如say, tell, order, ask等动词引出,这类动词叫做引述动词(reporting verb)。主语和引述动词可以位于直接引语之前,例如: Notes Notes Unit 7 Modern Office 1.
