He also promotes Finnish-Chinese-European cooperation within the European Framework Program. In 2001 Mr. Rissanen was responsible for the Tekes project to thoroughly analyse technological development trends and innovation systems of East Asian economies. In 2002 he came to China for making a more in depth study of the Chinese innovation system, and in 2003 he took position as Chief Representative at the newly opened Tekes Beijing office. Since then Tekes China (including Tekes Beijing and later the Shanghai office) has increased cooperation with various partners in the technologically advanced areas of China. During 2002-2007 Tekes China has created and facilitated cooperation projects and China studies in the fields of ICT, biotechnology, health care, energy, environmental protection, construction technologies, logistics, forestry industry, nanotechnology, and industrial management, among others. Mr. Rissanen’s background is in international business, innovation and technology transfer studies.
