Step 2 Lead-in : The teacher gives a brief introduction to Marco Polo by asking questions and showing slides.
T: today we are going to read a story about Marco Polo. Have you heard about Marco Polo? (use slide to give the question)

A. He was a French merchant who traveled to Venice.
B. He was an Italian merchant who traveled to China.
