Step 1. Warm up:
1. Free talk:
T: Hello, I’m Miss Zhu. What’s your name?
2. Sing a song: Hello.
3. Sing a song: If you’re happy.
Step 2. Presentation
1. Teach ‘Happy’
T: Now we’re very happy. Read the word, Happy. (Bb.)
Ss read the word after T.
2. Teach ‘New Year’
T: Miss Zhu is very happy. Why? Because New Year is coming soon. (CAI: Show the picture of New Year’s Day)
T: Listen three times. New Year. New Year. New Year. (repeat 3 times.)
T: Now read after me. (Bb).
Ss read the word in different ways.
3. Teach ‘Happy New Year! Thank you.’
T: We can say ‘Happy New Year!’ to our friends. Now read after me. Happy New Year!
Ss read the sentence.
T: Can you say ‘Happy New Year!’ to Miss Zhu?
S: Happy New Year!
T: Thank you. (Bb)
Read the sentence.
T: Happy New Year!
S: Thank you.
