ABSTRACTABSTRACTThe Data Warehouse comes into being with the development of the information technology which has been developing to meet the social needs. Because of this, On-Line Analysis Processing (hereafter referred to as OLAP) also develops very fast. There are differences between the Data Warehouse and OLAP: the former emphasizes on the storage and management of decision-making thematic data while the latter emphasizes on data analysis of the Data Warehouse and the conversion of data into useful information which can assist decision-making. An important characteristic of OLAP is multidimensional analysis. This analysis forms a complementary and united relationship with multidimensional data framework of Data Warehouse.Modeling plays a very important role in the design of Data Warehouse, and it is newly applied in the field of telecom. Modeling is different from the previous MIS (Management Information System) and OLTP. One unique kind of multidimensional modeling has been brought out with the occurrence of Data Warehouse. Meanwhile, the feasibility of this model has been testified in practice. A contribution of this thesis is to combine ER model, OO model and multidimensional model in setting up a Data Warehouse model, as this combined model forms a solid foundation for a uniformed Data Warehouse.This combined model offers a uniformed Data Warehouse for Unicom. Furthermore, this model not only solves the problem of Information Island but also achieves information communion. Based on the existing problems found out by data analysis, an understandable report has been generated, which offers theoretical basis for the business development of China Unicom in the area of decision-making. This data model is quite consummate in expansibility, maintainability and stability, and it satisfies the current needs of business. Data analysis of suite business shows its importance. In the process of this analysis, the existing problems of suite business are found, for example,
