What I have learned about intercultural communication Abstract: After studying the course, I know it is important to get more of intercultural communication and its basic skills. We can take in other cultures’ advantages and overcome the disadvantages in our culture to get improvement. Key words: textbook and films, importance, cultural diversity, examples, eastern countries and west countries, values, beliefs, religions, changes, development, before, nowadays. Introduction: We open a new course — intercultural communication this term. As a result, I know that studying the course well is very important. Through some films our teacher introduces and the knowledge our teacher teaches in the classes, I get much, including some basic skills and manners. Now I will talk about something that I learned from the classes and movies. Body: With the development of the whole world, we have more and more communication with foreign people from different countries. We can see it from many aspects, such as languages, gestures, sports, politic, economy and so forth. If we don’t know some main differences of other countries, we will meet a large number of problems and misunderstanding. Thus, studying basic skills of intercultural communication is of great importance. At the same time, it is difficult. As technology is developing, the occasion always happens that we make friends through the internet. Therefore, some of the friends may come from foreign countries. With our growing, we will contact with people who often behave in ways we do not understand. Those people may come from different countries. It can’t be avoided that our action or words do not fit in with their cultural customs. Then, misunderstanding happens. Although we are not ready to hurt others on purpose, our unconscious behavior will cause unnecessary misunderstanding. It has a bad effect on our friendship.
