* * * Welcome to today’s 《Happy To Learn》! Feeling Content Always Happy He Who Feels Content is Always Happy. This is a combined character created by a famous Chinese artist. It combines four individual words by sharing their common radicals(部首), making it a fantastic artwork, which can only be produced in Chinese culture. Look, can that English idiom be combined? Of Course No! Made and Presented by: 江蓓蓓 刘忆晨 吉芃 蔡钰 马欣 Yan Zhenqing was born in Tang Dynasty. His calligraphy is full of vigor(气势) so the later people call it YanTi which is square and spacious. Yan was honest and had a sense of justice. He never submitted to those powerful and rich people. 《Ji zhi wen gao》is written by Yan Zhenqing to commemorate his nephew Yan Jiming . He was extremely sad because his brother and nephew sacrificed for the country , so he expressed all of his feelings in the calligraphy without any awareness of the calligraphic rules. The fluent strokes are like the floating rivers, forming an extraordinary calligraphic artwork. Wang Xizhi is a great calligrapher in Jin Dynasty , who was praised as Shu Sheng. There is an “Ink Pond” in Shaoxing , with the legend that Wang Xizhi used to wash his ink brush in it and gradually made the pond black because of his long-time hard work. Wang Xizhi was so concentrated to practicing that he forgot to eat and sleep. He even thought about the structure of characters while walking, and constantly wrote on his clothes. Hard work paid off finally. Chinese people created this kind of art in order to express their feelings and life understanding, on the other hand the characters and handwriting helps develop people’s quality.
