The way I view Extensive Reading… Extensive Reading is not just a reading course, but we have to remember that its main focus is reading and developing reading skills. It is a flexible course, though, and I like to view it as a course of stretching your thinking through discussions of important and interesting topics, especially current events. Some things we do in class emphasize the reading focus, and other things emphasize the thinking and discussing focus. Some methods we will try… We will not take a lot of time to check answers in the book. Sometimes, we may have one student give all the answers, or we might focus on a few of the questions and give explanations for the answers. We will use some different methods to practice the Word Pretest words. Some methods we will try… We will spend time reading articles not in the book and discussing them.
